I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, majoring in Graphic Design from one of the most highly accredited and oldest private art colleges in the nation, Maryland Institute College of Art; graduating with the honor of Cum Laude. I had the rare opportunity of studying under professors well-known in the design community, including: Ellen Lupton, Head of the Design Department, author of important design publications such as, “Skin: Surface, Substance, and Design”, “D.I.Y.– Design It Yourself” and “Thinking With Type: A Critical Guide for Designers, Writers, Editors, & Students”; Abbott Miller, Principle of Pentagram, Baltimore, author of “Dimensional Typography: Words in Space (Kiosk Report)” and whose design work is showcased at the Chicago Art Institute and Museum; as well as the ingenious type designers from House Industries, Ken Barber and Andy Cruz.
In college I started the Playwriting Club (now Thespian Club), which continues strong today and has become one of MICA’s top extracurricular activities. My senior year I organized, budgeted and directed the featured production of the group called “One Act Wonders” at a local Theater. I created all of the marketing materials which included Posters, Tickets, Programs and T-shirt. I built and maintained the group’s website.
